Mr. Alexander was born in the United States and spent his early life in the nunnery of Omaha in Nebraska. He left the confines of the nunnery and worked as a bell-boy at an American hotel. He then worked in a newspaper office and became a writer. He came across the writings of Swami Vivekananda and his inner searching then found the source that he was looking for. He sailed to India and gave himself to working in the Order founded by the Swami. He wrote for the Prabuddha Bharata, from which the pages in this booklet are extracted. He died in the US in 1917.
